Garage Door Only Opens Part Way Cold
Grease and lubricants normally make a garage door open with ease.
Garage door only opens part way cold. The solutions the cold weather may be effecting your rollers making them stiff and unable to work as well. If the garage door still only opens halfway the problem is with the door. If this is the reason your garage door is not functioning properly the lubricant must be applied. When the weather turns cold however it is possible for the grease to coagulate making it difficult for you to get your garage door to open.
If the door reverses part way down and you are sure there is no obstruction or binding increase the closing force a small amount and try it again. Another reason that your garage door won t open all the way in cold weather is probably that the metal has contracted. The up force may also need to be adjusted. If the garage door connected to your liftmaster opener only opens part of the way or it begins to open but then reverses check the track and the surrounding area for any objects that may obstruct.
Some older garage door openers do not have nicely labeled adjustment screws for force and travel limits. The cold of winter can sometimes result in your garage door closing but being unable to open well. Weather effects if your stuck garage door coincides with weather changes you may need to adjust the pressure on the opener. You may need to adjust the garage door to prevent the friction when it is cold.
Pull the emergency release and manually open and close the door to see if it is binding up when it is cold. In cold temperature the space between molecules reduces making the metal shrinks. If your garage door still only opens partially then try adjusting the travel and force settings a little more.
