Garage Door Pulled Red Cord
To reconnect simply pull the red cord on an angle.
Garage door pulled red cord. At that point push the button for the operator and when the trolley meets with the carriage the 2 will be connected. Depending on your model you will have to move the chord to the appropriate location. Pulling the red release cord will disengage the trolley from the opener carriage the part that is moved by the motor along the rail. The red cord is attached to a spring lever that can be put in 2 positions. The trolley sits on the opener carriage.
Get a safe ladder with your remote move the belt so that the metal coupler is all the way back. When the cord is pulled the garage door is disengaged from the opener and then free to move along the track on its own. Now you need to pull back on the release cord. You will notice that there is a lever that moves up and down when you pull on the cord.
Through the attachment point the trolley is also connected to the opener carriage. You should feel and see the lever attach itself to the automatic door opener. You will hear a click. Which moves the door.
Once these two parts are separate you can move your garage door manually. The opener carriage is the automated mechanism that moves the door along the door rail track. Now pull on the cord and it will snap into place. Mine is a genie but if it s a belt it should work similarly.
Step 3 be sure to leave garage door closed when not in use. The purpose of the emergency pull cord on your garage door is to allow you to operate the garage door manually. When the release cord is pulled it disconnects the trolley from the carriage allowing you to manually move the door. If you intend to continue manual operation pull the cord toward the door which will keep it from reconnecting to the carriage.
The emergency release cord is the red rope that hangs from the door trolley. The trolley is connected to the door and moves with the door as it opens and closes. If you intend to leave your door in the manual setting pull the red cord backwards towards the motor.
