Garage Door Rail Is Bending Under Pressure
Hello i recently purchased and installed a chamberlain belt drive garage door opener to replace an older craftsman model.
Garage door rail is bending under pressure. My only suggestion is the ensure that the door operates properly and easily without the gdo and then re connect the door. The two tracks join with a flag bracket that also helps sustain the pressure of the springs. Any attempt to open or close the door will result into a bent track and jamming the door. I believe there will always be a slight bowing as the pushing and pulling of the door exerts pressure on the rail.
If that point is more than four feet or less than three feet above the ground you will need to balance the door. Below are some common issues that might cause the garage door tracks to bend. 2 brace the open door. That will cause the jerky noisy operation when you close the door.
This problem may seem mild initially and you may continue to raise and lower the garage door with only moderate resistance. A garage door usually has two cables one on each side of the door. See the section in your manual titled position the opener when the door is fully opened the opener rail should be max 2 above the edge of the top section. Fixing a garage door that has bent tracks might need some track replacement depending on the extent of damage.
Move the garage door up and down until you find a place where the door stays suspended when you let go. The door is installed i ve run it multiple times and it goes up and down fine but the rail is off level by probably about 3 from the front bracket to the motor. My gdo rail bows slightly when opening and closing as well. It worked for me and it cost less than.
When a garage door is bowed generally it may not fit properly in the rails located at the sides of the garage door. If one cable snaps or break one side of the door will not be supported. If you have done everything like i have to prevent your door from bending splitting or folding to no avail try this.
