Genie Garage Door Won T Open Just Buzzes

Genie garage door won t open just buzzes. It can also be caused by attempting to use the garage door opener with a broken torsion spring. Try to open the door manually. Disengage the door from the trolley by pulling the emergency cord if none of the basic checks reveals a simple explanation for why the door won t open. Door starts down then stops before it is closed.
If an operational problem exists and the garage door opener will not close the opener can be forced to close. Unfortunately this is just something that happens with usage over time. Also try unplugging the garage door opener and re plugging the unit back into the outlet. Check for interference from adjacent photo eye sensors of any brand.
It was working fine after getting new doors but then it started smoking and now just does the above. To try and correct the problem make sure the eyes on the sensors are clean the wire connections are securely fastened at the sensors and motor head and the eyes are directed at each other. If it has the same symptom then it is the motor unfortunately. As we have mentioned in previous blogs the torsion springs are the muscle of the door and pull it up and place it down properly. If it is be sure that the lenses are mounted five to six inches from the floor on either side of the garage door opening. The buzzing is the motor attempted to rotate so the windings have failed but not shorted to cause a breaker trip.
Check garage door for binding. If the problem persists check to see if the red safe t beam led indicator is blinking.
