Track is out of alignment make sure that the tracks for your garage door rollers are in their proper alignment by using a level. Garage doors get a lot of use which is one of the primary causes of the problem. Disconnect the opener from the door and unplug the opener from the outlet. Open and straighten the track at the spot where the roller has jumped out of the track use a pair of pliers and open up the track.

Once you locate where the wheels on the door are jumping off the track snap locking pliers underneath the door on one of the tracks. Pull the outside of the track open with another pair of pliers to put the wheels back on the track. Top roller is the easiest garage door wheel to put back. Some units will actually reconnect themselves but this is not typically the case.

Use a pair of vice grips or locking pliers to hold the garage door in place. The next step is to go to the inside of the garage door. Then knock the track back into position with a rubber mallet. After troubleshooting the tracks to find the problem you can now get to work putting the rollers back on track.

The very first thing that you will want to do before you get the garage door back on track is to make sure that you disconnect the garage door opener from the door. The first thing to do is hit the door button. A common problem with garage doors is that they go off track from time to time which can be a particularly annoying problem when the weather is bad or you are in a rush. If you are using a roll up door the track section should be precisely leveled.

If simply hitting the button does not work you will have to take more action. This can be an easy fix and requires no tools. Now you will be able to open the door manually. Partially open the door and until the damaged track is lined up with one of the rollers.

Locate where the wheels have jumped the track apply a pair of locking pliers underneath the door on one of the tracks to act as a stop. Open the door manually. If you have a horizontal track they should have a slight angle towards the back of your garage.
