Garage Door Will Open But Not Close
If anything interrupts this beam of light the garage door will not close and the ceiling light on the opener mechanism will flash as mentioned in the previous step.
Garage door will open but not close. Check the door s electric eye. Sometimes a garage door won t open or close for one reason only the operator has. If your garage door opens ok but won t close then it s possible the safety reversing sensors are not correctly aligned. The garage door may attempt to go down but will come right back up and the overhead light on the garage door opener will blink.
If the beam is broken or the sensors are misaligned the sensor light s will go off and subsequently tell the operator not close the door. First check the sensor lights. Depending on the brand. One sends a beam of infra red light to the other.
The photo eye is blocked dirty or misaligned. This also disables any remotes or wireless keypads. This is one of the sensors. Clutter or obstructions that block the sensor are the first problems to look for if your door won t close or in extreme cases open at all.
Turn the power back on and the door should open and close normally. If your garage door won t close all the way the problem could be due. Don t just assume that if the path is clear that the sensors are ok. This feature normally only fails when the door is already open and won t close but some models.
The operator receives no power. Hopefully after you read this you won t have the same problem in the future.
